NGOs Pursuing Relevance - 2 - ORIGINAL CONTENT

(part 2 of 3) (part 1) (part 3)

NGOs and their fellow travelers and hangers-on “flooded the zone” on social media in November 2025, prior to and during the UNFCCC COP30 in Belem, Brazil. They have published more than 50 posts on Facebook promoting renewable generation, raising concerns about the climate and soliciting support from Facebook users.

I have sorted these posts into three categories based on their messages:

  • We’re Winning
  • It’s Worse
  • Do Something

It’s Worse (than we thought)

The US withdrew again from the Paris Accords. President Trump then declined to attend or to send representatives to COP30. The leaders of several other nations, including China, Russia and India also declined to attend. Reports from COP30 suggest that it was an utter failure.

The image on the left below predicts future catastrophes if COP30 fails while the image on the right below predicts worsening heatwaves if Net Zero is delayed. However, it is becoming obvious that Net Zero cannot and therefore will not occur by 2050, if ever.

The image on the left below suggests that ocean currents could collapse and that we might have little time left, though other studies suggest that the ocean currents are stable. The image on the right below suggests major sea level rise if Antarctic ice shelves collapse, though research suggests this is highly unlikely.

The image on the left below suggests that Antarctic collapse might already be unstoppable, though recent research confirms increases in Antarctic ice mass. The image on the right below suggests Greenland is shrinking, though recent research suggests the Greenland ice mass is growing.

The image on the left below documents glacial loss. However, evidence exposed by glacier loss demonstrates that glaciers had retreated even further previously. There is no data on the optimum global glacier cover. The image on the right below suggests that Arctic sea ice extent has recently stabilized. There is no data on optimal Arctic sea ice extent.

The images below warn of an increasing rate of sea level rise, which appears in the satellite data but not in the longer tide gauge records.

The images below suggest that climate change caused or contributed to rapid intensification of Hurricane Melissa and that this is the new normal which will only get worse. However, there is no data to support this assertion.

Finally, the image below repeats the “warmest year ever” meme and suggests that the world’s health signs are in danger. However, data shows that the globe is greening, increased atmospheric carbon dioxide is contributing to increased food crop production, human wellbeing is improving and the death rate from extreme weather events is decreasing.

The images posted above repeat predictions which have failed over the past several decades and are likely to continue to fail in the future. Climate models continue to project futures which are inconsistent and increasingly unlikely.
