Nathan Ashby is an economist specializing in immigration from Mexico, and the impact of crime on investment into Mexico. He has also studied the impact of economic freedom on internal immigration in the United States as well as immigration between countries. Between 2010 and 2012 he helped construct the Economic Freedom of North America index published by the Fraser Institute. His scholarly research has been published in the Southern Economic Journal, Journal of International Management, Contemporary Economic Policy, European Journal of Political Economy, and Public Choice.
